Year 2 Homework project

This half term our topic homework is

“Time Traveller discoveries”.

If you could travel anywhere in time where would you go and what would you find out?

Can you make your own time travellers hat

   

or cape that would send you back anywhere in time?

 

Please use any bits and pieces you have at home – recyclable, child friendly materials such as empty plastic pop bottles, cereal boxes, egg boxes, sweet wrappers, old bits of t shirt material and buttons.

You will have so much fun deciding what your hat will look like.

Use your BLP perseverance muscle and keep going!

 

 Topic/Writing

Use the sheet provided to write about Time Travelling and your discoveries.

Answer the following questions:

 

Explain how you as a scientist knew you had travelled back in time?

What invention did you discover and why was it so amazing?

How do you think this invention changed people’s lives for the better?

Some ideas to get you started:

The pedal bike was invented.

The telephone was invented.

The electric light bulb was invented.

The first glider was built to be flown by a pilot.

First flushing toilet was invented.

Remember to use when/because/that in your writing.

 

We would also like you to learn your KIRFS and spellings.

Topic

For your holiday homework we would like you to make a chair for the BFG based upon what we have been learning about in our Science topic materials.

Think about how you can make your chair strong and comfortable.  Please remember to use recyclable, child friendly materials such as empty plastic pop bottles/milk cartons and cardboard tubes.

We wish you a safe and restful holiday.  The BFG is looking forward to testing your chairs.

Topic/Writing

Write instructions about how to make your BFG chair.  Remember to use imperative verbs (bossy action words) and a safety tip.

Holiday Homework

For your holiday homework we would like you to write about a dream that you have had. We would like you to put your written dream into an empty jar and decorate the jar.

After half term we will be asking you to share your dreams.

Spaceman Visit!

 

Year 2 had a special viIMG_0041[1]sit from Mr Bean the astronaut! The children learnt facts about space and what life is like as an astronaut.IMG_0024[1]

Children built rockets and they were given the chance to fire polystyrene toy rockets at a target to experience how fast a space shuttle launches into the air.

The children were given the chance to ask questions at the end of the activities to further extend their knowledge. Thank you for visiting us Mr Bean, all the children had a fantastic experience!

Year 2 Holiday Homework

Next half term, our topic is around animals. Your homework is to use your imagination muscle to create your very own animal. You could create your animal using recyclable materials such as cereal boxes, empty milk bottles, empty plastic pop bottles, clean yoghurt pots etc. Write a character profile about your animal answering the following questions

  • What is your animal?
  • What does it eat? Is it a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore?
  • Where does it live?
  • How big is it?
  • What does it like to do for fun?
