Year 6 Text of the Term

Kensuke’s Kingdom

In Year 6, our current class novel is Kensuke’s Kingdom which is written by Michael Morpugo. It is a great story which allows our children to access the English curriculum for reading, writing and speaking and listening. We selected this novel because it also delivers many aspects of our PSHCE curriculum. We can explore the themes of friendship, loss and hope. We are actively encouraging our pupils to read other books by the same author, many of which are available in our school library. At school, our children participate in a wide range of reading activities and we would strongly encourage them to read daily at home.
