What Training Do Staff Members Supporting Pupils With SEND Have?
All staff members have on-going training in a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
The majority of staff members are trained in the use of Team Teach (positive handling training).
Current whole school training is focusing on developing more effective learners through the Building Learning Power programme.
English is being developed through; Read Write Inc. (Phonics programme) and Talk for Writing. Communication through; Talk for Learning and Clicker. Maths is being developed through a multi-sensory approach using a variety of manipulatives and interactive apps/online resources.
We have Teaching and Associate Staff who have received ELKLAN training and employ those skills in enabling them to be more effective in their support of children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).
Staff members supporting pupils with physical and medical needs receive specialised training.
